Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +21,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. - 1969 London Underground (BRITISH) pressing by the unique and mighty FAMILY a creative rock group sounding like no one else, and played with an interesting flair dominated by a strong voice:
- FAMILY played with ALL of the 1969 era London Psych bands at ALL of the happening concert clubs and ballrooms ~ you name it, Family were there ~ delivering an always impressive set and were not only darlings of the Music Publications but had legions of supporting fans. As a result, FAMILY lasted the course of several albums ~ "Entertainment" being of their best outputs from no less than 53 years past.
- The first 3 Family albums are considered their best works!
- Led by the INTENSE Roger Chapman's unique vocal style! Chapman, would end up blowing his powerful voice completely out requiring surgery. Not a surprise when experiencing the strain Chapman let loose in his strenuous quiver.

- The Seldom Seen SUPERIOR British '69 Original 1969 Original U.K. pressing on the highly collectible Reprise steamboat label ...nearly impossible to find this dark cover clean, but, here is a nice surviving UK Original ... it's the great second FAMILY album with the old UK/European "BACK FLAP SEAMS" back when they were manufactured as such in the sixties!
- .........................................................................
- Contains the (quite rare!) HUGE Poster!
and here it is below, the RARE U.K. ORIGINAL - .........................................................................
"Observations From a Hill" is a nice compelling number that sucks the listener in, while Ric Grech (soon to join BLIND FAITH as original member) is singing the verses. Elsewhere, "Hung Up Down" brings us back to the patented Chapman vocal growl, and the chorus is actually quite good. "Summer '67" is a highlight for sure. It's an instrumental, but don't look for any summer of love references here. No, this is a bouncy folk chorus traded off with a decidedly Eastern themed verse, and not sitars and fuzzy guitars, but rather real Middle Eastern violin. Who was doing that at the time? Then, "How-Hi-the-Li" is just nutso. Which is a good thing. It's a sort of trippy groove (and listen to the first verse, gotta love the lyrics). "Second Generation Woman" is another great here. It's a rough rocker, and the soloing is probably the best break on the album. "From Past Archives" is one of the weirdest numbers, in a way. with the rootsy harmonica and the medieval harpsichord? And then the complex sax soloing? Great vocals too. Now "Dim" is a truly catchy harmonica driven rocker about the dangers of...uh, loving with the lights off? Or maybe the dangers of loving with the lights ON. Point is, it's fun. Nice soloing, and gotta love the descending riff. And "Processions" is the last great number on the album, a truly gorgeous tune. It's the downbeat little tale of a kid on the beach. Tender vocals and sax, and that piano that comes in for the second verse represents water (change?), doubtlessly, but just dig those classy little arpeggios! And the brief coda? Once again, gorgeous. The final two numbers are... "Face in the Cloud" if a pure is designed around sitar! A lovely slice of 'heady' psychedelia ... There's nothing wrong with "Emotions," a nice enough song, the little ascensions played with the rhythm and blues melody, and is that a steel drum in the background?
FAMILY made several fantastic songs also on their later albums, but none of them is as finely crafted from the beginning to end as this one. A safe choice, if not half as unique as their "Dolls House" LP.
