Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. SARCE and righfully sought Original 1967 first pressing of an interesting Los Angeles Calif soft psych album issued on the same label as the Yellow Balloon, produced by Ken Handler, the Yellow Balloon's producer... thus The New Wave can be thrillingly played back to back with The Yellow Balloon album with enjoyable results...Tracks such as 'Shadows of Good Bye', 'The Evening Mist - A Mounring Dew' and 'In a Lonely Towne' aptly exhibit the duo's decent voices and nice harmony work. Most of the album's 11 tracks are originals that showcase the pair's heavy-handed soft-pop moves -- fans of Pet Sounds and Left Banke, etc take note...
It was at a Westwood record store in Los Angeles that Reid King first heard Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “One Note Samba,” performed by the great Brazilian guitarist Laurindo Almeida and the Modern Jazz Quartet. In no time at all, King found inspiration in the tricky chords of the bossa nova. He mastered them and went on to write his own songs, often in collaboration with one-time child actor Thom Andriola, who performed under the stage name of Tommy André. By 1966, King and Andriola were recording demos, and one year later, they were signed to Canterbury Records. At the cult favorite Sunset Boulevard label, home to the Yellow Balloon, they found themselves collaborating with rock royalty as The New Wave. Van Dyke Parks, Gene Page, Mike Post, Hal Blaine and Carol Kaye all added their magic to the duo’s debut. But the promise of the day soon gave way to disappointment for the group, and the New Wave’s lone LP has been shrouded in mystery for over forty years, hard to find since its 1967 release.
It’s no surprise that members of the famed Los Angeles “Wrecking Crew” participated in sessions held at TTG Studios and Armin Steiner’s studio. Gene Page, another Phil Spector session veteran, was in the arranger’s chair and co-produced (uncredited) with Canterbury’s Ken Handler. Van Dyke Parks was enlisted into service on piano while in the midst of work on SMiLE. (Hmm, it’s a good year for Parks’ lost records of 1967, no?) The New Wave’s rich sound included harpsichords, strings and oboes, adding color to the most introspective songs on the LP as well as the sunnier cuts. The album performed well in the Los Angeles area, but Canterbury Records wasn’t behind it, meaning no promotion. King and Andriola continued to explore the boundaries of popular music, taking their sound in a less commercial direction (inspired by modern classical composition) and recording a second album in the U.K. that never saw release. But the New Wave’s self-titled LP has remained a favorite among sunshine popsike collectors for its intelligent lyrics and quirky, moody, individual melodies.

CONDITION: The Cover: Still all colorful as it was in 1967, well preserved, little (minor) corner ding), nothing much, near "EX" (excellent) or better...no seam splits, no writing, looks very6 collectible...
The Vinyl: all clean over both sides, M- play graded very nice and enjoyable...wih CLEAN Canterbury labels...
