Here is a RARE ORIGINAL 1956 JULIE LONDON "CALENDAR GIRL" LP, WITH MUSIC BY PETER KING, ON LIBERTY RECORDS, #SL-9002, A FIRST PRESSING ON THE MAROON LABEL WITH A CHEESECAKE GATEFOLD COVER!!
THIS CAME FROM A RECENT ESTATE SALE OF AN ELDERLY MAN WHO WORKED PASSED AWAY, I WAS FIRST TO GO THROUGH HIS RECORD COLLECTION & CHERRY PICKED IT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS IS BEING OFFERED PUBLICLY! I'M NOT A RECORD DEALER OR COLLECTOR, THOUGH I DID COLLECT RECORDS FOR MANY YEARS IN MY YOUTH AND AM ABLE TO HONESTLY EVALUATE RECORDS. I DON'T OWN A RECORD PLAYER, SO I CAN'T TEST ANY FROM THIS SMALL COLLECTION, BUT ALL APPEAR IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, I ONLY GOT THE ONES THAT APPEARED IN GREAT CONDITION.

If you're looking at this you probably know how rare this 12" record is- THIS IS THE VERY FIRST PRESS WITH THE MAROON LABLE ON THE RECORD, DON'T BE FOOLED BY UNSCRUPULOUS SELLERS TRYING TO FAKE YOU OUT WITH THE LATER BLACK WITH MULTI-COLORS LIBERTY LABEL- THEY ARE WRONG, THERE'S A COUPLE LISTED NOW- ONLY THE MAROON LABEL IS A FIRST PRESSING. This gatefold cover features 6 sexy photos of Julie on the front & 6 on the back, the large photo on the inside of the gatefold is titled "The Thirteenth Month"! The record is not marked as Stereo or Mono, but "SPECTRA-SONIC-SOUND", I assume it's in Mono. The record appears to have been played maybe 2 or 3 times, using high magnification I can barely make out 3 or 4 ultra light marks near the spindle hole on both sides. The record looks brand new- not a flaw or scratch anywhere. My close-up photo of the label makes it appear red- this is from the bright flash of a digital camera, in person it a deep maroon with silver lettering. The record comes in a soft, clear plastic sleeve with the original cellophane inner sleeve, but that has deteriorated from age. The cover appears brand new, I give it a 9+, only flaw is a tiny corner tip bump at lower right corner tip on both parts of gatefold & a very nominal 2" faint rub line on the front. The cover has no splits or lots of the typical surface rub marks all over it.  I will keep the record out of the cover now & when mailing, both will be protected. I am shipping in a nice home-made cardboard box. If you have any questions whatsoever ask before bidding, especially if you're using a Snipe program. I may take bid from overseas, send me an email for that. I honestly believe this is the nicest copy of this LP you could find anywhere!!

Gayle Peck (September 26, 1926 – October 18, 2000), known as Julie London, was an American singer and actress. Best known for her smoky, sensual voice, she was at her singing career's peak in the 1950s. Her acting career lasted more than 35 years, concluding it with the role of nurse Dixie McCall on the television series Emergency! (1972–1979).  

London began singing in public in her teens before appearing in a film. She was discovered by talent agent Sue Carol (wife of actor Alan Ladd) while London was working as an elevator operator. Her early film career did not include any singing roles.

She recorded 32 albums in a career that began in 1955 with a live performance at the 881 Club in Los Angeles. Billboard named her the most popular female vocalist for 1955, 1956, and 1957. She was the subject of a 1957 Life cover article in which she was quoted as saying, "It's only a thimbleful of a voice, and I have to use it close to the microphone. But it is a kind of oversmoked voice, and it automatically sounds intimate."

London's most famous single, "Cry Me a River", was written by her high-school classmate Arthur Hamilton and produced by Troup. The recording became a million-seller after its release in December 1955 and also sold on re-issue in April 1983 from the attention brought by a Mari Wilson cover. London performed the song in the film The Girl Can't Help It (1956), and her recording gained later attention in the films Passion of Mind (2000) and V for Vendetta (2006).
