On offer here is an EXTREMELY rare copy of the Clarence Henry UK single 'Ain't Got No Home' / 'Troubles Troubles'. This is the first pressing on the GOLD Type London label!!!!

Clarence Henry was an American rhythm and blues musician of the 1950's. Born in New Orleans, his greatest influences were Fats Domino and Professor Longhair; when he played talent shows when he was younger he used to dress like Longhair and wore a wig with braids on both sides. When he was young he studied piano and trombone - he become an accomplished player in both and still is today. In 1956 Clarence wrote what was to become his greatest ever song - Ain't Got No Home'. Sung in a falsetto voice ('sing like a girl') and in a contrived voice ('sing like a frog'). Indeed it was this contrived voice that earned him the nickname 'Frogman'. During his fame he toured with a number of big acts - the biggest of them all being none other than the Beatles! He's had a few other big hits (along with a small number of minor hits) in America before he returned back to the New Orleans music scene. Recently he was inducted to the Rockabilly hall of fame.

The London label in the UK picked up his first song but when it was originally released in 1956 it failed to sell. A later reissue did something but it wasn't until his material was released on the Pye International label that he became a big name in Britain. Because of this his first release on London has become extremely collectible and now impossible to find because of how poorly it sold when it was first released.

Impossible to find, this would be perfect in any record collection! It will be a VERY long time since another copy comes along for sale.

Catalogue Number 45-HL.8389 Format Mono Side 1 Matrix 45-MSP-1566-1C Side 1 Stampers 1 / B Side 2 Matrix 45-MSP-1567-1C Side 2 Stampers 1 2 / B Sleeve Condition VG-. The company sleeve is holding up pretty nicely. It has some wear and light creasing but no tears. Disc Condition VG. The disc has a great shine to it and the playing surface has a fair amount of light scuffs along with one or two slightly heavier marks. The single plays through really nicely. It does distort slightly on the louder vocal parts but the rest is surprisingly clear! Plays through with no skips and some light background noise that at times is hard to spot. Label Condition G+. Both labels are clean but the gold type has worn in places - moreso on side 1. All text is still legible though. Both labels have a little light spindlewear. Audio Clip

All sales are final. All payments must be received within 7 days unless you contact me and let me know what's going on - as long as I know what's happening then everything will be fine. I do not offer refunds unless it can be proven that the item you receive is not the item described in the auction. If there is a disgreement with what has been sent, then please email me and we'll work something out. The post and packing charges are given in the table below. If you are unsure as to which prices apply to you then please email me beforehand to avoid confusion.

Items lost in the mail
In the extremely rare event that your item is lost in the mail then please let me know. I collect proof of postage with every record I send and can do my best to chase up anything if anything goes AWOL. However, if insurance was not taken out then unfortunately there is very little I can do.

Items damaged in the mail
In my 5 years of buying and selling on eBay, only 1 item I have sold has arrived at its destination broken (and that was only because the postman decided that he was going to fold the parcel (which clearly had 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND' on it) in half so that it it would fit in the letterbox). In the extremely unlikely event that an item arrives broken or damaged then please email me so that we can sort something out.

Insurance
All items I sell can be insured regardless of how much they sell for. These additional costs will appear as optional extras on your checkout receipt. It is entirely up to you if you would like such cover but I strongly recommend that insurance is taken out for the more expensive records.

Refunds
Refunds will only be offered if it can be proven that the LP you receive is not the LP you bid for. I am very honest in my grading and give an accurate description of the condition of the LP, but if you are unhappy with the item then please let me know so that we can work something out. I will not refund you if an item is damaged or lost in the mail since that is the fault of the post office and not me - hence why insuring a record is always a good idea.

Payment Preferences UK PAYPAL is preferred, although I can also accept personal cheques, Postal Orders or (entirely at your own risk) direct cash. Rest of World PAYPAL is preferred, although I can also accept International Money Orders or (entirely at your own risk) direct cash.

The audio clip does NOT contain a complete song, but rather the mere placing of the needle onto the feed-in edge and approximately 20 seconds of the opening track. This is purely for the potential bidder and / or buyer to use as a guide so that they can hear for themselves the quality of the album they could be paying for. The clips presented are purely for this one purpose and should not be confused with anything else. Requests for longer clips will be denied. And before you ask - yes, I *have* checked this with eBay and have been given the all-clear.

Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertisied as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever. Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
