Quoting Patrick the Lama, Acid Archives author "An Orange County newspaper back in 1970 mentioned a few participating bands such as Sound Spectrum and Primal Scream, as well as the aforementioned Sea & East Utopian Mission, but gave no details of their performances. As detailed below, the last track on side 1 is Sea & East Utopian Mission, and it appears that another track on the LP features a local band named Live Wire.

It must be mentioned that “100% Unknown Fibers” is a primitive recording with poor sound quality, even as private pressings go. It’s likely to be an audience tape, rather than from soundboard. The music is mostly jammy acid-rock typical of the era, predominantly instrumental workouts on Hendrix and Cream riffs, with lots of raw fuzz leads and some vocals. One track has a trancey folkrock feeling, including flute. All over it is reminiscent of some of the Yahowa 13 basement jams, like those heard on “I’m Gonna Take You Home”, minus Father Yod. There’s some nice grooves and feedback soloing here and there. It’s hard to determine how many different groups are featured on the album, but my guess is that it’s at least four different outfits, as the mixing and soundscapes differ, even while most of them are stylistically similar. A high point of the LP is the inclusion of several microphone raps from the Laguna Greeter and others, including the plea for Thorazine quoted above. One guy goes into a hostile rant about war, Nixon and Angela Davis, before being cut off with the reminder that the festival is about “love, not aggression”. The stage announcements combine with the crowd ambience, hovering police helicopters, and raw, improvised music to capture a moment in time, warts and all.a successful, magical event from an idealistic era, preserved on audio via a crude vanity bootleg, destined to sit unplayed in attics and bargain bins for decades.

So there it is: a successful, magical event from an idealistic era, preserved on audio via a crude vanity bootleg, destined to sit unplayed in attics and bargain bins for decades.

IMPORTANT

If you plan to bid or buy, please first read the following so you know how we do things, thanks.  It may seem like there are a lot of rules, but this is essentially our mutual contract, so being clear benefits both parties.  We've been doing this a long time so we've encountered quite a few situations which help inform these procedures. ;-)

GRADING

Visual grading is used except where noted in the specific listing. Standard Goldmine grading applies except we use Ex as a mid-grade between Vg+ and NM. EX is not the same as near mint, but it's a nice copy that has some obvious light wear.

Please note that vinyl is an imperfect medium.
Even NM or unplayed records will sometimes have slight surface noise and this cannot usually be detected from visual inspection. While we try to list all noticeable defects, if you are particular about condition please email before you buy or bid for details or to express concerns.   Grading is by nature subjective and we cannot have grading debates once an item has been shipped to you since we no longer have the item in hand (you do).

Confused by abbreviations and acronyms? More info needed on grading? Go here.

STEREO OR MONO?

Assume that records from 1970 on are stereo pressings unless noted otherwise.

SEALED RECORDS

We do not guarantee the contents of a sealed record in any way UNLESS you ask us to open and grade the vinyl prior to shipment.  Once a sealed record has left our hands, we do not take returns for any reason.

PACKING

We pack carefully.  We use custom die-cut record mailers and they are not cheap.  For open records, the record is taken out of the sleeve.  Both record and cover are sandwiched between two cardboard pads.  Covers are protected with plastic outer sleeves, while the vinyl is protected with a paper innersleeve which is tucked into the plastic outer sleeve for additional protection.  We sometimes reuse mailers if they are clean and sturdy, but usually, we use brand new ones.  Please read this before you give us special packing instructions because we are probably already doing--as a matter of course--what you are likely to request.

SHIPPING

Usually we ship once a week, or within 5 business days of payment.  We guarantee to ship within 10 business days (2 weeks) of payment except under unusual circumstances and we will do our best to advise you of those circumstances.  eBay is not our primary occupation so we need this flexibility, thanks.  Important:  if you select Priority or other expedited shipping, it does not mean that we will ship your package more quickly than usual. It only means that the postal service will deliver the package faster and provide the special handling that is associated with expedited shipping.  Please understand the difference.

PAYMENT

*Paypal ONLY; please don't ask for alternatives cuz we won't do it.  Payment is due within 72 hours of auction end or buy-it-now.  Please don't bid or purchase if you can't do that.  Seriously.

***PLEASE update your address in Paypal to avoid shipping snafus. We cannot be held responsible for shipping problems if your address is not current in Paypal or if you do not provide your correct address for shipping from eBay.  If a package is returned to us as undeliverable because you did not provide a correct or current address, we will be happy to reship the package to you, but you will have to pay the shipping fee again.

FEEDBACK

is left for you after you make payment. If there is a problem, please do not leave feedback until you have contacted us first.

RETURNS

We operate by the Golden Rule method; we strive to treat you as we like to be treated. If you are unhappy please contact us within 7 days of receipt of the item and we'll do our best to work it out.

We have bought and sold collectible vinyl since 1978. We know records pretty well, and we strive for a professional, easy transaction. Check our feedback and know you can buy with confidence.

QUESTIONS?

Please email questions directly through eBay so we don't lose your email to the spam filters.

Many thanks to all of our customers for your continued support!
