(various artists) '17 North Parade' LP (UK, Pressure Sounds, Catalogue #JRLP066) Brand new/unplayed copy of limited year 1997 Pressure Sounds label LP edition/collection of crucial 1970's reggae sides produced by Clive Chin at Randy's.

Superb collection of tracks produced by the young Clive Chin at Randy’s Studio in the first half of the seventies. During this period Randy’s was the studio for most of the independent producers that constituted the roots explosion of the period, known as rebel music or rebel rock. Clive achieved a big Jamaican hit with his production of Augustus Pablo’s Java in 1972, though that’s not included here, and went on to produce the classic sides included here such as Alton Ellis’ heartbreaking adaptation of the Cornelius Brothers soul gem Too Late (To Turn Back Now), still a tune guaranteed to rock a crowd, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Lloyd Parks, one-a-way sides from the Gladiators, Black Uhuru and the African Brothers, early roots reggae from the mysterious Sweeny, the definitive reggae version of William DeVaughan’s Be Thankful For What You’ve Got and the excellent instumental / talkover record Guns In The Ghetto.
