Here's a very rare, possibly unique, piece of soul music. This is a 7-inch 45 rpm single featuring two songs by Barrett Strong. They seem to be very basic demo recordings. The first side is titled "I Made Up In My Mind," and it features Strong singing with piano and drums. The second side is titled "Two of a Kind," and it just features Strong and a piano.
Condition - This has wear including light marks. Both the labels and the record grade at about VG by sight. Listening grade is similar with noise including pops and clicks particularly at the beginning, and some more problems on the "Two of a Kind" side. There is one very small skip at the beginning of the "Two of a Kind" side, but then a second take begins. Then, later in the second take, there is a another small skip, which is audible on the sound clip.
Sound samples of both sides are included below to give an idea of the music and the sound quality. This audio samples came directly off the record and they have not been enhanced or corrected in any way.
Please check my other auctions as there other soul R&B acetates, including another acetate that is related to this piece. It features what sounds like an unreleased northern soul production of "Made Up In My Mind" by the great Betty Everett.
Regarding shipping - I use new high quality materials and pack carefully. When possible, I can combine shipping.
Regarding grading - I try to grade by Goldmine standards. I do not use the grade "Mint" on unsealed, opened records. The highest grade I give to unsealed records is "Near Mint." Grading here is strictly by sight.
