JOE HOUSTON - COMBO LP-100 Wild Man of the tenor sax. That sums it up for this great saxophonist from Texas.JOE HOUSTON is unique in that he gravitated to the Blues from the Jazz idiom, this virtuoso be-bop player became enthralled with the Blues…..Rhythm & Blues to be exact and in 1946 JOE was performing with Amos Milburn. It was 3 years later in 1949 that JOE began a relationship with one of music's greatest Blues Shouters…BIG JOE TURNER. He also played with musical luminaries such as John Coltrane, Ray Charles and others during the forties and fifties. This led to JOE developing a style all his own, one that was to influence the direction of popular music. He was definately a pioneer of Rock 'n' Roll. This is his first full length LP and was issued on the Combo label in 1955 and is quite rare. This is the original 50's deep groove pressing. The cover I would say is VG+ almost no visible wear , the seams and spine are in fine shape it would look new except for a small discoloration on the back upper left corner(noticable in photo). I would rate the vinyl VG+++ meaning a small number of very light surface scratches are noticable under a light but none of this effects play. It looks great and sounds clear and fantastic.
