Description

NM disk with no blemishes and may not have ever been played (no noticeable spindle marks).  Bright, clear, black vinyl.  This should be considered the first Australian reissue.

Very Good cover with bend mark in upper left corner of this thinner 'Import' lp.  No writing or other blemishes either side of the cover.

The impact of this bootleg has been blunted by the VU compilation, which presented the four key late-'60s outtakes here in vastly superior sound. At the time, though, it was a revelation for fans of their booming cult, and the remaining six tracks are intriguing listening, if you can track down a copy. There are four mid-'60s garage-rock tunes that Reed played, sang, and either wrote or co-wrote for shoddy exploitation labels as a member of The Primitives, the Roughnecks, and the Beachnuts; crude and more crassly pop than anything The Velvets attempted, they nonetheless betray clear hints of things to come. It also has a couple of sound collages from 1966 and 1967 with marginal Velvet participation that ended up on a rare album and flexi-disc; these are collectibles and nothing more.  Richie Unterberger  (AllMusic Review)
