The records in my listings are some of the first flat record disc ever produced,, 1903 and earlier. These are generally in the area of at least 115 -120 years old so please don't bid if you expect high fidelity sound.This record is for the serious vintage record collector..

As seen a light scratch across bottom of label No cracks, scratches or needle digs in play surface.
Very Early disc # A-12 ,,, 7" IMPROVED RECORD in great condition from the turn of the century. This is a single sided, self announced record that has good volume and plays through smoothly without any issues on my Victor D phonograph using a fiber needle? As usual there is some light background noise which is the norm for records 120 years old. I'm not a record collector but I would give it an overall rating of 8.5 out of 10 due to the sound quality. Grooves are in extremely nice condition as the photo's will show..
From what I have seen on the internet,, it appears this US label was only produced in 1900 by Eldridge R. Johnson who's parent company was the Consolidated Talking Machine Company of Philadelphia and preceded the Victor Talking Machine Co. Supposedly Eldridge Johnson came up with a superior way in which to reproduce multiple copies of quality records from a single master.
Initially Eldridge Johnson's records carried the label Improved Gram-O-Phone Record the first records ever to carry a paper label but within a few months, through a court injunction, he was prohibited from using the term Gram-O-Phone on the labels of any of his superior records thus,, only briefly,, just the IMPROVED RECORD label remained. Once he moved his operation to New Jersey, Eldridge Johnson's Consolidated Talking Machine Company reorganized and became the Victor Talking Machine Co..
According to the research site Discography of American Historical Recording's (DAHR), the listed date for this record is 10/29/1900. See the last attached picture for this documentation..
