UPDATE: Good news! The buyer who tried to mar our reputation, as well as others, has now been removed from the eBay community. It remains to be seen whether his so-called friends will continue his dirty work, but as of now, we are elated to report that his other two eBay IDs are also suspended. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. 1966 RARE first issue ...obviously very hard to find...local teen scene '60s LP pressings NEVER were available on the commercial market, rather were sold in local towns and mainly at the bands shows. Here one of the surviving first pressings in thick cardboard cover...
The CHECKMATES were one of the few local GARAGE bands who managed a full LP when many of their counterparts across America were very lucky to have issued a 45. The Checkmates released their album on the legendary GARAGE ROCK label "Justice Records" -- the '60s Carolina label who catered to neighborhood garage bands. 1965 through 1967 the Justice label released (now highly sought and $$$ paid for) small LP pressings ... They're all full of the golden-era '60s vibes, some better some worse but equally the charm and sparse 'straight from the band' sound is present ...
Very similar to the CHAPARELLS popular Lp "Times To Remember, similar as the group delivers the same style of raw/primitive blue-eyed soul accents in garage rock format. The recording a one shot take with no additives or overdubs, exactly as the band sounded...vocalist, Farfisa organ, bass drums and winds...Singer Billy Carden has a strong voice that is actually well suited to much of the material. The rest of the band were never less than competent. The band original 'Half a Man' happens to be the standout track, though their cover of 'Gypsy Woman' and thinly veiled "Heat Wave" styled "Kidnapper" hangs solid, as are other tracks including "Laugh It Off" containing energetic drumming...

There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... VERY collection worthy ...
The vinyl: Rated: VG++ actually quite clean for a 50+ years ago original garage rock relic...plays very clean and both GOLD Justice labels are clean
