Description

Extremely rare first edition of "New York Dolls" written by Steven Morrissey, and published by Babylon Books in 1981.

Pre-The Smiths, Morrissey set-up and ran the New York Dolls' fan club in Britain. This book was published in early 1981, a year before his meeting with Johnny Marr, and the rest is documented. This is Morrisey's ode/tribute/celebration of one of the most important bands to emerge during the 1970s.

This is an original first edition without a barcode, not a later reprint. Un-numbered, this is still effectively a 'Limited Edtion' as the print-run was just 500 copies.

The book has some toning and rubbing to the cover commensurate with age. There is a 10mm closed tear to the upper edge of the back cover and  a few age spots in a couple of places. Both staples are fully intact as is the cover and all pages within. This copy is not in Fine condition, being overall VG+.

A highly sought-after piece of rock'n'roll ephemera that bridges the gap between Glam and Punk. Of interest to collectors of the Smiths, Morrissey, and Rock'n'Roll memorabilia.

Payment preferred by bank transfer; please wait for invoice before paying.
