Description

Released Nov. 23, 1981 by Casablanca Records (Casablanca had dropped the "Filmworks" portion of their logo as Polygram took over the company in 1980. Music From The Elder was, and probably always will be, considered by fans to be the Kiss mystery album. It was concocted with a degree of secrecy, and a mysterious history behind it; finally vanishing only to reappear in the late 80"s in fans' minds as one of the classic albums produced by Kiss. This album was the last American release in which Ace Frehley contributed new material to before officially leaving the band in 1983. Puzzling to many fans were the many versions of this album released by Polygram. This original release features the standard cover (that of Paul Stanley's hand reaching for the knocker on the door), and a gatefold cover displaying a heavy wooden table surrounded by chairs and a single candle in the foreground. According to Dale Sherman's book Black Diamond 2 -on both sides of the inner gatefold reads text that sets up the storyline for the songs. The inner sleeve is a paper sleeve, presenting all lyrics for the album.
