Description

The "Jazz Scene" is a limited 1949 album compiled by Norman Granz.  This is bound like a book in gold stamped cloth boards. There are 6 12inch 78 RPM discs featuring original tracks by Duke Ellington, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Neil Hefti,Willie Smith, Machito, Bud Powell, George Hardy, and Ralph Burns.  There is an essay with each disc by Norman Granz.  In addition, there are 30 photos, most by photographer Gjon Mili.  The photos are of Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Gene Krupa, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Holliday, and more.  This is a heavy album.  This is copy number 4422.  Please note there is ?water damage on the upper portion of most of the pages - see photos. Most of the photos have some mild damage too.  All albums seem to be in fairly good condition.
