Put your new (or vintage) Hi-Fi system to the test with this high-performance recording from Sheffield Lab co-founder and piano virtuoso Lincoln Mayorga. Paired with the angelic Amanda McBroom, this duo put down a super-tight set of music in 1980 using the Sheffield Lab Direct Disc recording method.
It's 40 years old, but you can close your eyes and imagine that you are in the studio for the recording session. It's that good.
With legendary audio engineer Bill Schnee at the helm, Growing Up In Hollywood Town set a standard for sonic excellence at the time. This record was nominated for a 1981 Grammy Award (Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical), losing out to The Wall from Pink Floyd which took the top honor in the category.
This sealed copy includes the original hype stickers touting the Grammy nomination and promoting Amanda Broom's rendition of The Rose (which she wrote, and for which she was honored with a Golden Globe Award). The Limited Edition 'box' packaging includes the LP, foam padding, a lyric sheet, and a Sheffield Lab history document which proclaims that their goal was "... to produce records of exceptional music merit that have absolutely no compromises or limitations ..."
