my grading system:
(I post pictures of all the LP's so you can see for yourself)
record grading: jacket grading: NM
near mint - exceptional condition and sound fidelity, with minor (if any) visible signs of use; no or minor sleeve marks (from removal) very minor scuff, without scratches of any kind
- virtually flawless
- if a scuff covers more than a few tracks yet can be seen, it will not be NM - LP jacket showing little or only minor signs of wear and age, with no marks, scuffs, or blemishes of any kind on front or back
- seams, spines, corners are not worn to any degree; lamination completely intact
- glossy jacket; maybe minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside), however the artwork should be as close to perfect as can be
M-
mint minus
EX
excellent (VG++)
- record in really good condition: it appears new, but a closer look reveals that it may have been played, flawless; there a few tiny but inaudible sleeve marks
- it can have some minor hair scratches from taking out the record a few times, maybe some light scuffs, but only slightly visible
- may have surface noise or an occasional tick or groove noise
- wear less than 15% of the surface - near new jacket
- jacket with fine appearance, still looks good, but used
- minor imperfections: record jacket that shows only light and topical wear, typically acquired during years of normal careful storage and usage, like ring wear
- with no repairs; no or light seam and edge damage
- some small fading or loss of cover; still looks good, but maybe slightly soiled, due to age
- maybe some slight creases to the corners
- no seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs VG+
very good plus - record will have appeared to have been played, and have some visible stronger wear (lines, light scratches, few light surface scuffs, faint scratches that one could not feel with their fingernail) but the record is playable
- vinyl has more than 15% (yet less than 30%) wear to the surface - some strong wear;possibly seam splits and/or taped seams (seam split repairs), cornerand edge wear
- virtually clean cover, but may have small writing on it
