Description

Way before Frank Foster's wailing sax enters 30 seconds in, the opening track is already on fire. Raunchy Rita starts with the bass of Richard Davis and Billy Greene's piano setting up the jaunty raunchy riff that is the heart of the tune. But Foster's swirling bluesy gruff tenor sound is perfect. But each track on this product of the late '60s is different: the dreamy double-bass and drum rendition of Summertime is unique, the slinky light touch of Shiny Stockings so light and deftly played ... and you even get Mr Jones playing guitar on one track!
You can find this album for sale on specialist record sites for over £80 - this is the second edition from 1971 (the first pressing can be yours for £180 or so!) - or you can snap this up to add to your collection.

The gatefold cover is slightly worn, as you might expect from a 48-year old disk, but otherwise in good condition. I would probably grade the LP itself as 'Very Good Plus' (verging towards Near Mint) according to the discogs definition.

I am finally selling all the rest of my collection of jazz vinyl. It's a slow process putting them up on here, so get in touch if you'd like to know more ...

Postage within the UK includes special stiffened packaging and signed-for delivery so we can all be sure your purchase will arrive safely. I'm also happy to post abroad to various destinations, but get in touch to ask for a price before bidding, or we go through the Global Shipping Programme.
