This is a RARE AND GREAT - MINIMAL SYNTH / POST PUNK - UK 1ST PRESSING  COPY single that RARELY COMES UP FOR SALE !!! This single is so obscure I COULD NOT FIND ANY MENTION OF IT on the net !!! The band’s name is “i”, the A. side is a GREAT - MINIMAL SYNTH track, while the B. side is a GOOD - POST PUNK number which says it is taken from the soundtrack of the film “DEUS EX MACHINA” !!!
PHOTO OF THE BAND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE and is only added as a reference.
The band had a compilation of their 1981-1983 recordings released on a CD in 2017, here is some information from said CD: Dill – Lead Vocals
Rex Brough – Bass
Dave Pepper – Keyboards
Chris Hull – Guitar
Rick Medlock – Drums
Colin Kiddy – Keyboards
Paul Johnston - Drums

‘I’ formed in 1981 from the ashes of Coventry bands God’s Toys and X-Certs.
Dill had a vision of ‘I’ as the equivalent of a “modern day church service” to make every concert a spectacular event, rather than just another gig…
The band’s initial style was quickly linked to the new romantic movement

Signed to EMI publishing, Their first and only release followed on their own Iconoclast records…
The 7 inch ”I am I” c/w Deus Ex Machina.

Following this, a change of line up and style led to the 1983 incarnation of ‘I’, with a more contemporary hip hop sound, bringing in drum machines and synthesisers.
After shooting some promotional videos and playing a local show, the band went their separate ways, citing the usual “musical differences”…
Because of the obscurity of this single I HAVE ADDED SOUND CLIPS FROM BOTH SIDES ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL HERE:  https://youtu.be/KY0kP01EZ8U
The tracks are: “i” / DEUS EX MACHINA.
The single came out on ICONCLAST RECORDS catalogue number ICON 001.
VISUAL condition of the vinyl would be NEAR MINT condition (PLAYED ONCE ONLY !!!), never came in a picture sleeve but comes with the original old white die cut sleeve !!!
