Description

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, two magazines were devoted to jazz and swing: Down Beat and The Record Changer.  DB had more articles, photos, ads and  reviews but TRC was the first outlet for "collectible" swing and dixieland 78s.  Each issue contained several auction and set sale lists from stores and individual collectors.  Many of the records were fairly common by today's standards (Dorsey Vi, Lunceford  Vo and De, Freddy Martin Br, etc) but scattered throughout were such gems as Barrel House Five, Pm 12851; Kansas City Frank, Br 7062; King Oliver, Ge 5135; Vance Dixon, Co 14608; and Skip James, Pm 13065, E!  ( all these from the 01/47 issue.)  The January '47 issue has a hard stock cover and 34 interior pages.  Front cover has age spots around the perimeter, as pictured (and an ad for Billie Holiday Commodores on the back cover); inside pages are in excellent condition.  The March 48 issue, with 30 interior pages, is in similar condition.  These are important artifacts from the postwar music scene and the earliest days of record collecting.

Winning bid takes both copies.  PayPal only; add $ 3.50 for insured Media Rate mailing to USA addresses; $5.00 (First Class International, no insurance) to Canada; or $6.00 (FCI, no ins) anywhere else.  Thanks for looking, and please see my Other Items for more RC issues from 1951 and 1954.
