This is an original vintage 1940s era catalog of “Race Records” issued by the F.W. Boerner Company of Port Washington, Wisconsin.  This catalog was issued as a direct mail piece that folds out into a broadsheet newspaper format measuring about 22” x 17” printed both sides on newsprint type paper.  This brochure is illustrated throughout with numerous photos and is entirely devoted to “Race Records” or, in other words, mostly Blues with some traditional Jazz records produced by African American recording artists.  I don’t find a date on this catalog but I believe this was produced in the 1940s based on the artists and songs listed. 

The F.W. Boerner Company of Port Washington was founded by Fred Boerner and his brother-in-law Maurice Supper in 1925 as a primary mail order distributor of the race records being produced by the Paramount Records label subsidiary of the Wisconsin Chair Company also of Port Washington.   The original Paramount label was out of business by 1935 but Boerner continued to sell Paramount records from a massive stockpile he had stored at his house in Port Washington well into the 1940s. Most if not all of the race records in this catalog were produced well after the demise of the original Paramount label so would have been from a different record companies.  I am not sure if any of the records here were from what remained of Boener’s Paramount horde.  Each of the records listed has a number and some of these numbers connect to the RCA Victor, Decca, Manor and Columbia labels.  There could be other labels as well as I only checked a few.

This catalog is a vintage original published in the 1940s.  The catalog is fully complete and intact but it does have some separation along the fold lines in places.  I applied a couple small pieces of acid free paper archival tape to keep the separation from spreading.  The paper is toned from age and this catalog is fragile but still fully complete, intact and suitable for framing or display.   Email any questions.  Thanks for looking.
