Description
I'm forced to sell my stepfather's record collection. Eric Van Tassel, who passed away in 2004, was a musicologist who contributed articles to and reviewed records for Early Music, Goldberg, etc. He was an authority on Wagner, Schubert, Purcell, baroque music, etc. He collected LPs from the late 1950s until the mid 1980s, when he switched to collecting CDs.
This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up a large collection of LPs for a tiny fraction of what Eric paid. There are approximately 700-750 LPs, including several dozen box sets, and the vast majority are in excellent condition. Many are still in shrinkwrap and a few are still sealed.
Common composers in the collection are the afore-mentioned Wagner, Schubert and Purcell, and there are many contributions by Mozart, Handel, Bach, Strauss, Monteverdi, Brahms, Schumann, Beethoven, to name a few. There is a smattering of jazz, folk, and world music as well. Major labels represented include Angel, Archiv, Decca, DGG, EMI, Erato, Harmonia Mundi, Hyperion, L'Oiseau-Lyre, London, Nonesuch, Philips, RCA, Vanguard.
I'm afraid due to the size of the collection, pickup is the only option (unless you want to arrange for a courier to pick them up for you). I'm a few miles south of Cambridge and very close to the M11 and the A10. The LPs are boxed and ready to go.
