BE the Boots - Authentic Beat the Boots Box 1 Inspiration

  &nbspThis auction is for 6 of the original records that were the inspiration for the Frank Zappa Beat the Boots and ended up as part of Box 1: As An Am, Piquantique - Stockholm 1973, Freaks and MotherF#ckers, The Ark - Boston 1968, 'Tis the Season to be Jelly, and the double LP Anyway the Wind Blows. The covers are in VG+ to NM condition and the records are typically VG+ but range from VG to NM.

  &nbspI purchased these back in the 1980's before the Beat the Boots series was divised. AS A SURPRISE BONUS THE AS AN AM LP INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL 8 PAGE LIBRETTO THAT CAME WITH THE DISC WHEN I BOUGHT IT WAY BACK THEN, still in NM condition and contains a quote of Frank admonishing the bootleggers along with some song lyrics.

  &nbspPlease note that two of these, As An Am and Piquantique, do not come in normal record jackets but are just folded over pieces of paper and most of the records have only white labels as seen below in the pictures. How authentic! Each record will be sent in a plastic sleeve to protect them and keep things together.

  &nbspImplies that it looks as good as the day it was brought home and opened for the first time. No signs of wear, scratches, tears, scuffs, or other damage.

VG+ = Very Good + (Except for a couple of minor things it would be Near Mint)

  &nbspShows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took great care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that cannot be felt with a fingertip. Slight warps that shouldn’t affect the sound are acceptable. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. The cover may have slight signs of wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. It may also be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.

VG = Very Good (Average quality, a few issues but not many, a very played but well taken care of record)

  &nbspGroove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them at the most.

VG- = Very Good – (Below Average. Too many issues to be Very Good but still in better shape than a Good rating)

  &nbspSame types of issues as VG, but more of them.

G = Good (Lots of issues but still playable)

  &nbspGood does not mean Bad! A record in Good condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without serious skipping problems. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A cover will have seam splits, tape, writing, ring wear or other defects that will start to overwhelm the object.

P = Poor (Probably not playable)

  &nbspThe record is cracked, badly scratched or warped, and probably won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon.

SS:(grade) = Still Sealed : Cover Grade (grade)

  &nbspThis means that the grading only really applies to the condition of the cover and assumes that the record inside is the correct one and that the record and label are in as good a shape as the cover, if not better.
