This auction is for the following 7” Vinyl Single:
Z.Z. Hill: Make Me Yours/What Am I Living For, Action ACT 4532, 1969, UK Release, Plain White Sleeve.
A very rare and hard-to-find Northern Soul classic.
Please note this record is not in great shape, so please read the following description carefully before bidding.
Visual Grading: P (Poor)
The A-side label has initials written on it.
Visually, the vinyl appears to be in a poor state. Both sides have lots of surface scratches and other “scuff marks” (some heavy) visible under natural light. Under artificial light, the vinyl looks even worse.
Aural Grading: A-side: G (Good) / B-side: P (Poor)
The A-side does actually play through without any skipping, jumping or sticking, but there is surface crackle throughout, plus intermittent “clicks” and “pops”.
However, much of this can be filtered out if you have the right audio equipment: for example, by selecting “power mode” and setting the bass woofer to high on my equipment, the sound quality is greatly improved – to such an extent that it is certainly “listenable” or “acceptable”.
The B-side does not play properly: it sticks after about 20 seconds.
Normally, I would not list a record for sale in this condition. However, given its rarity, the fact that the A-side does actually play through OK and that the sound quality can certainly be made “listenable” if you have the right equipment, I am happy to list it with a start price of just 99p.
If you are looking for a “quality” copy of this record, then this one isn’t for you. However, if you are just looking for an original vinyl copy of this rare 1969 Northern Soul classic that IS playable, and where the sound quality can certainly be made “acceptable” if you have decent audio equipment, then this one should be fine!

A Note On Gradings
All my used records are graded using the UK Record Collector magazine grading system. This system does not use + or – symbols (e.g. VG+ or EX–), or terms such as “Near Mint”; it uses only Mint (M), Excellent (EX), Very Good (VG) and Good (G) for collectable records. I am continually surprised by the number of Ebay sellers who claim to use this system, but who then fill their listings with + and – symbols!
Please also note that (unless otherwise stated) all my used records are aurally graded and are always graded very conservatively. I do not knowingly sell any records that stick, jump or do not otherwise play properly and also try to list all obvious faults to ensure buyers are happy with their purchases, not disappointed as I have been on more than one occasion when buying used records on Ebay. In fact, I know from personal experience that my VG is better than a lot of other sellers’ EX+! I have sold over 300 records on Ebay since 2001 and have not yet had a complaint about my gradings.
