"I HAVE IT!" That's the meaning of 'Yo La Tengo,' a Spanish term, translated into English. Speaking of 'having it,' Dr. John's Spin Factory does indeed have this rather hard to find vinyl in decent shape. Heck--far better than decent shape, this record is new! It's SEALED!! And, to be sure, to ice the aural cake, this is a first edition... Now here is a band whose music I found uniquely entrancing from my first needle drop. The even mix of male and female vocals, the drone-ish guitars, the confessional nature of their lyrics...But most importantly, I would contend, never once across 6 or 7 of their albums have I ever gotten the sense that Yo La Tengo were playing music that they themselves did not truly and fully enjoy. Meaning, their serious musicians, and this is definitely NOT some commercial radio rock and roll. And their record company, Coyote? Well, they sure did not put much effort (or money) into the graphics of this particular album or Yo La Tengo album covers in general. And, why should we care? The music is the real deal, the only reason to put our money down. Right!? Well, perhaps not. I know people who have bought records simply for the cover's graphics or artwork. (Think the original jacket for British pressings of Blind Faith! Of course, in that particular case you also got yourself some beyond incredible music.) Enough mental meandering...Good luck, and go listen to something your ears will love you for today! If you can't find anything in your current stash, consider, I Have It! I mean, "Yo La Tengo!"
