Insane funky 70’s Bollywood Soundtrack OST R.D. BURMAN Click here to listen to SOUND CLIP no 1
Indian soundtrack from 1973. You won't believe how insane this record is. First attraction is the song collage "Aap Ke Kamre Men", that ranks high in the Burman top 10 of funky weirdness. The opening alone is a knockout! And then 12 minutes of musical fragments with all the lounge and funk grooves imaginable. A lot of sixties guitar work, dangerous hammond licks, obsessed percussion. In between the fragments you hear a wild live crowd. In the end a wicked percussion, bass, chase beat comes in and we hear "Dum Maro Dum" (take another hale) from Burman's psychedelic hippie soundtrack "Hare Rama Hare Krishna"! Great version! Burman himself also sings and grawls on the track. I don't know how to describe it properly, it just has the most raw sixties style soul funk grooves.
Then there is another lengthy song called "Lekar Ham Diwana Dil" also with the well known trip hop Burman weirdness. Many outrageous passages ranging from mysterious lounge grooves to sixties crime jazz with big band and wild, wild guitar. Again, the opening alone is insane as hell, with a dark fuzz guitar and soundeffects that puzzle totally! Kersi Lord again with his treated organ with distortion and other electronic effects??. The songs on the other side contain yet more strange stuff and excursions into fantastic percussion. Great LP!
