Jacket is a regular stereo jacket (bearing the stereo catalog number SD 1602), but with a circular orange "PROMOTIONAL d/j copy monaural NOT FOR SALE" sticker on the front. Such was standard practice on these Atlantic promo-only mono releases.

But, as you can see in our pictures, the labels on this edition are wholly unique - the word "STEREO" is absent from its typical position to the left of the spindle, replaced by the text "SAMPLE COPY NOT FOR SALE", and the stereo catalog number is replaced by the mono-specific catalog number (as described above).

One last note - these Atlantic promo-only mono releases have become the stuff of legend in these past few years. Not too long ago a copy of King Crimson's "In the Court of the Crimson King" sold here on eBay for $1900; a copy of Derek & the Dominos' "Layla" sold for $4000; and on December 27th a copy of Led Zeppelin III sold for $1400! And the crazy part is, these are all well-documented titles! Being that this LP was released in 1972, it was quite obviously at the tail-end of Atlantic's run of mono promos (the aforementioned titles were released in '69,' 70, and '70, respectively, while the latest mono promo release we are aware of is Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" from '73), as music was moving by leaps and bounds from the mono AM band to the stereo FM band.

To make a long story short, this is one of the rarest titles in a series of incredibly rare releases - make an offer while you still can!

CONDITION OF THE ALBUM:

We grade the disc as Very Good Plus (VG+).

It retains much of its original gloss, and has likely seen very few plays (even at a radio station)!

There are a couple of light hairlines and sleeve abrasions here and there, which we expect to amount to only some background crackle relegated mostly to quieter passages.

We grade the jacket as Very Good Plus (VG+).

We have noted the following imperfections:

*The words "NOT FOR SALE" have been crossed out on the orange sticker.

*There is some mild discoloration/spotting on the front, confined entirely to the bottom, left corner.

*There is one mild abrasion (NOT a split) on the top seam.

All told this jacket has held up incredibly well! The "Suggested Cuts" stickers are normally quite yellowed on these old Atlantic promos, but this one is by far an exception.

The spine looks very sharp.

Only a hint of ringwear/"shelving rub".

We encourage you to study all of our photos thoroughly for the best idea of the jacket’s condition.

The jacket will be placed in a new plastic outer sleeve (as you can see in our second-to-last picture).

For international buyers, if this album is to be insured then Priority Mail International must be the service selected (USPS doesn't allow insurance on packages sent First Class Mail International.) If you do not wish to pay more for Priority Mail International, and instead wish to stick with First Class International, you may, but you will forfeit insurance as a consequence.

Our grading system pretty much follows the Goldmine Magazine format, and is as follows:

Mint (M), Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good (G+), Good (G), Fair (F), and Poor (P).

Although thorough grade explanations are best left for specific item descriptions, we will endeavor to say that: M is pretty much left for the discs of sealed records (and SOMETIMES the jackets of sealed records); NM and EX are in the “Wow, what a beauty!/archive piece” range; VG+ and VG are in the “That’s pretty nice” range; G+ and G are in the “eh, it’s okay” range, and F and P are in the “trashed” range.

All records are shipped in genuine cardboard record mailers. The disc will be placed in a new liner and packaged outside the jacket (but within the plastic outer sleeve) so as to prevent splits. Original liners (if included) will be kept inside the jackets, as will any inserts. The album will be surrounded by three sheets of 12” by 12” bubble wrap (two sheets over the disc). Shipping info is always typed up and printed out – we don’t take chances with shoddy, hand-written addresses! The box will be sealed with and the address sheet will be affixed by lots of Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Tape.

All payments must be made by PayPal. You may pay by debit, credit, or e-check, but must use the PayPal website to do so.

Payment must be made within 48 hours of purchase/auction’s end.

Our shipping schedule is as follows:

• Orders made on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday will be shipped on Saturday.
• Orders made on Saturday and/or Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

We will occasionally make Friday shipments. However, this is the exception, not the norm.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up. Do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.
