Description
ELVIS PRESLEY - DARK GREEN LABEL DEMO YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE (RCA 1747)
This DOUBLE-sided, dark-green label RCA UK demo was manufactured by The Decca Record Company in 1968 and was the last Elvis UK single demo to appear on the dark green / torquoise colour label. The standard version (RCA 1747) was Elvis's penultimate single release on the black RCA label in 1968.
Over time, all of these light and dark green label demos have become highly collectable, largely because there were so few of them were made (mainly for radio stations, magazines and company sales' personnel). The main point to remember is this: they were NEVER intended so be sold to the public and, in fact, most record buyers knew nothing about them at the time - all of which makes them genuinely rare and very desirable.
These later demos closely resembled the finished article (the RCA Victor layout is very similar to the released version), but the label colour was different and that there was a big 'A' across the A-side - denoting which was the lead track. Please note: the release date was printed onto the label itself.
The condition of the vinyl on the A-side is VG+ (owing to what looks like a small smudge in the vinyl). However the B-side is Ex+ - though this is, of course an opinion, based on a visual check. I cannot comment on how well it plays though, as I do not now have a record deck ...
The starting price for this piece of Elvis history is a modest £29.95. P&P costs in the UK will be £1.95. (recorded delivery is available at extra cost)
NB. Overseas buyers please note that eBay now handles international sales and they set their own charges for this service.
