The album's concept, a two-disc, four-piece work of symphonic length and scope (based on the Shastric scriptures, as found in a footnote within Paramahansa Yogananda's book Autobiography of a Yogi), was their most ambitious to date developing stronger prog/jazz rhythms than before (explored later and in more depth on Relayer).
On release it received notably hostile reviews. Gordon Fletcher in Rolling Stone described it as "psychedelic noodling" and Chris Welch in Melody Maker described it as "Brilliant in patches, but often taking far too long to make its various points, and curiously lacking in warmth or personal expression".
Yes fans still remain divided over whether or not this is one of the group's stronger works. Some claim it's far too excessive and obscure, while others see it as one of the band's masterpieces

All four labels are clean and unmarked with no spindle traces
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
All four vinyl surfaces shine like new. There are one or two light and superficial brush marks visible (no doubt present from handing in the factory) but these are of no audible significance
VINYL Audio: MINT
My play-check at (very) loud volume found nothing to fault - exceptionally clean sound performance - even the run-ins are silent - wonderful copy
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT(+)
Excellent example - none of the common heavy ring - crisp, sharp edges and spine with very little storage rub
