Description
limited first edition. These words are printed on these posters.
size 27" x 18 3/4"
I got them from Apple myself!!! and I looked after them. There were three editions at the time and these are the DAILY EXPRESS ones. They appear to be the rarest of the 3. Not LOOK from the US or STERN from Germany. This edition came from the shop. On July 30th or would that have been 31st 1968? That's the Beatles own bloody shop matey!! And they are Limited First Editions!! The others aren't the same. Well are they??
On the last day of business all the punters who went into the Apple shop went to pay for their gear and were told it was free!! Well the news got out and the next day I got these posters. The expensive gear was all gone. So I waited a few years, almost 40, patient aren't I, and now this is expensive gear. Funny old world.
They are in excellent condition but they were not behind glass all this time; mostly in a portfolio case. I'm going to be pretty ruthless in my description of the signs of age on these wonderful posters. The colours are unchanged and vibrant as were the days. Sorry, in my pictures John's yellow looks very dull. It's not. The edges on all the posters are sharp all round. Most of the corners are absolutely perfect.
There is no loss on these posters whatsoever which makes these the best set out there at a reasonable price!! There are some minor signs of glossy paper handling, nothing you'd call a creases or folds; perhaps a little on some extreme corners. George has some minor dents in one small area and, yes, a crease which is more like a wrinkle under his chin and there is a slight wave - see description of numbered detail shots. John has one 1/2" closed tear, Paul, a smaller one. John has a crease you can see in the picture but this was never a full fold. On the rear of George there are some orange sellotape marks but they don't show through at all. Most of these minor blemishes only reveal themselves on close scrutiny. It is the faults I have highlighted so I'd like to think you find them better than my description.
detail shots
I've included the following pictures to illustrate a balanced overview of the condition but mostly it is the faults I have highlighted and I have used severe lighting angles to do this. George is the one that shows more signs of age. But I am being harsh here and overall these pictures are truly magnificent. I’d rather you knew what you were getting before you receive them. These shots are examples and do not necessarily represent the whole poster from which they are taken.
Picture 5 shows ‘Limited Edition….’
Picture 6 shows George Harrison lit from the side to emphasize a slight waviness on part of the poster and showing a ‘wrinkle’ under chin.
Picture 7 shows the small indentations under the white beads of Georges bracelet
Picture 8 shows John and the excellent state of the surface
Picture 9 shows Top of Ringo and the Good+ but not perfect condition of some edges
Picture 10 shows Bottom of Macca; pretty good but not perfect
Picture 11 shows an excellent edge on John
Picture 12 shows a good surface to Paul
What else do you need to know?
History, beautiful history that's what it is.
And you won't need luck to win these, just a little determination!
