Rare first press with matrix reference; K-50379-A-1 and K-50379-B-1 respectively. Other information: This is rare. Seriously rare. It's a white label test pressing of the LP; "Going For The One", but it's one of the first pressings that were produced, which the band then rejected, because they were unhappy with the quality of this pressing and, apparently, another two had to be produced, before they got it right! Because this was the first pressing and one that was rejected, it's unlikely that any other copies survived and I don't think this one has actually been played! Record is mint with no visible signs of wear; I've tilted the record at different angles in the sunlight and can see no surface marks of any kind, really does look incredible! Labels are clean on both sides and the vinyl glistens in the sun! Really has to be seen to be believed! Absolutely stunning and a true collector's piece.

Unfortunately, I don't know what exactly it was about this particular pressing that the band weren't happy with, but the width of the tracks on side 1, differ from those on the final, approved version, so maybe the width (or spacing) of the tracks, had some effect on sound quality or could it be that the tracks actually sounded different on this pressing? The width of each track is noticeably different on this pressing, so it's possible this might have some effect on sound quality. The newspaper clipping shown mentions that the release of the album was delayed due to the rejection of the first two test pressings (actually states that a third pressing had been produced and the fact that the approved version carried the matrix reference numbers; A30 and B30 must suggest that this was the version they accepted). The matrix reference numbers on this test pressing are: K-50379-A-1 and K-50379-B-1, which confirms this one is a first pressing.

So, what you have here is probably one of the rarest test pressings ever to come up for sale and as previously stated, it looks unplayed. Really is first class. The newspaper clipping will be included in this auction.
