1. JETHRO TULL - A CHRISTMAS SONG/ LOVE STORY (1968/ WIP-6048) Pink Island label. Bells and Xmas story with added strings. Nice song made No.29 in 1969.

2. MUD - LONELY THIS CHRISTMAS/ 1 CAN'T STAND IT (1974/ RAK 187) Great Chin/Chapman song and Les Gray does his best 'Elvis'. Xmas classic.

3. DAVID ESSEX - A WINTER'S TALE/ VERITY (1982/ MER 127) Another classic of the genre. Laden with strings to support the sad love song. UK No. 2 in 1982.

4. WIZZARD - I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY/ ROB ROY'S NIGHTMARE (1973/ HAR 5079) Another classic and amazingly it starts with the sound of a cash register! Roy Wood 'wall of sound' and a great singalong. No.4 in 1973.

5. GILBERT O'SULLIVAN - CHRISTMAS SONG/ TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT (1974/ MAM 124) Nice with kids chorus and No.12 in 1974.

6. GEORGE HARRISON - GIVE ME LOVE (GIVE ME PEACE ON EARTH)/ MISS O'DELL (1973/ R 5988) Well its an Xmas song to me! Lovely feeling and great guitar. Nice to hear Georgie laughing on the 'B' side! No.8 in 1973.

7. BRENDA LEE - ROCKIN' AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE/ PAPA NOEL (1962/ 05880) Old Xmas classic that made No.6 in 1962. Nice Xmas 'B' side as well.

8. THE JINGLE BELLES' - CHRISTMAS SPECTRE/ THIS TIME NEXT YEAR (1983/ PASH 14) Great medley from the girls: Frosty/ I saw Mommy/ Rudolph/ Winter Wonderland/ Santa Claus/ White Christmas - all done Phil Spector style and very well too. No.37 in 1983.

9. KURTIS BLOW - CHRISTMAS RAPPIN'/ DO IT YOURSELF RAPPIN' (1979/ BLOW 7) Big beat, rap over the top with party sounds and fun. Plus you get just the backing track on the 'B' side so that you can all do it yourselves at your parties! No. 30 in 1979.

10. JOHNNY MATHIS - WHEN A CHILD IS BORN/ EVERY TIME YOU TOUCH ME (1976/ S CBS 4599) Xmas classic with a moving sentimental ballad. No.1 in 1976. 

11. BROS - SILENT NIGHT/ CAT AMONG THE PIGEONS (1988/ ATOM 6) Double sided hit from the boys with very well done Xmas song and fine second side. No.2 in 1988.

COMMENTS

Here is a nice mixed collection of  seasonal Xmas singles that all play excellently making them suitable for collections or for Juke Boxes. Ranging from 1962 to 1988 there are 2 discs from the Sixties, 6 from the Seventies and 3 from the Eighties. See above for more individual disc details.
