Description
On offer is a very scarce LP (long playing) record of DRIVER INTERVIEWS from the FALCON MOBIL 70,000 MILE DURABILITY RUN held in 1965. Five stock models of the 1965 XP FALCON were used in the trial. At an average speed of 71.3 mph the cars covered 70,000 miles in eight and three quarter days. The trial is often called the 70,000 mile gamble that saved Ford Australia.
The circuit was located at the You Yang Ranges in Victoria.
The LP was released soon after.
The drivers interviewed are: BOB JANE / ALAN MOFFAT / ERN ABBOTT / FRED SUTHERLAND / ALAN CAELLI / BARRY ARENTZ / BARRY SETON / HARRY FIRTH / JOHN LEIGHTON / BRUCE COROSTORPHAN / TOM QUILL / JOHN REABURN / BILL McLACHLAN / BRIAN REED / GIL DAVIS / KEVIN BARTLETT / BRUCE McPHEE / GEOFF RUSSELL / MAX STAHL.
The record is in VG Minus condition. Side one visually has several marks. Most are scuffs but there are some scratches. It looks worse than it sounds. However it plays quite well. I grade it a 6.5 out of 10. Side two visually looks pretty good. It also plays a 6.5 to a 7. The cover is VG Minus. There is some aging, storage wear, creasing and a surface tear. There is a 7cm split on the spine. Look at the pics for a better idea.
A sound copy.
