Description
THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
This NEAR MINT 1st STEREO pressing was purchased in 1966 but bears 1st pressing black & yellow Parlophone labels: PCS 3045
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'Parlophone Co...' rims.
The side 2 label carries the misspelt 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' title and the incorrect 'Jobete..' publishing credit for 'Money'.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.
Matrix numbers: YEX 110-2 & YEX 111-2
Stamper codes: 2/RM & 1/O
Vinyl weight: 166g
EMI still held stocks of 1st pressing discs when this copy was purchased in 1966, however new covers had to be manufactured.
The 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover is made from thick card stock & was the first to have a small 'stereo' front indicator.
The rear panel track-listing also spells track 3 on side 2 as 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'
Complete with its original 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: NEAR MINT
A spectacular set with just three or four faint spindle trails around the side 1 centre hole and even less on side 2.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Pristine deep-gloss playing surface which shine 'as new' in strong daylight with no noticeable surface marks or wear on either side. Closer and careful examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals just one or two harmless hairlines and inner-sleeve removal marks but nothing to suggest this disc has seen the light of day more than a handful of times over the past 46 years.
Sound Quality: NEAR MINT
Played less than a handful of times on the top-quality equipment. The sound is clean & warm throughout and my careful play-check was entirely distraction-free. Both run-ins and all bands play silently and there are no clicks, ticks, pop and any other audible faults anywhere. No need to upgrade this spectacular sounding copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
An extremely clean, firm and unworn example which retains a bright, unyellowed front panel with a completely unscratched high-gloss laminate. There is a mild 9cm wrinkle towards the upper right corner & a few tiny spine bends, but no 'thumbnails' creases anywhere. All corners are square and unbumped and both opening edges are unworn and undamaged. The exposed rear panel is clean & unblemished with no writing or missing paper anywhere. There is some minor discolouration to the edges of the flipbacks, but all are fully intact and unworn.
Both seams & the spine are smooth & unstressed with all wording present & readable.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
Clean & flat with moderate age-toning and a few small marks, but no writing, seam splits or tears.
