Description

THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'

This superb UK MONO pressing was manufactured, due to overwhelming demand at EMI's request by Decca Records in early 1964.  This can be identified by the characteristic Decca 'deep-groove' which runs just inside the labels' perimeter.

The labels are the yellow & black Parlophone variety, omitting the 'Sold in UK..' text but with 'Parlophone Co..' rims: PMC 1206

As with all Decca/2nd pressings, the publishing credit for 'Money' is 'Dominion. Belinda..'

Matrix numbers: XEX 447-7N & XEX 448-7N

Stamper codes: 3 & 1

Vinyl weight: 166g

Housed in an front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with a large mono front indicator.

The rear track listing correctly spells track 3 on side 2 as 'You Really Got A Hold On Me'.

Complete with an original 'Use Emitex..' poly-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

A 1st class pair with little more than a handful of barely visible spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: VERY GOOD +

Both playing surfaces are clean & bright and retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shine. Some light surface marks consistent with inner-sleeve removal are visible in srong daylight but there is nothing feelable, or anything I would call a scratch. Closer examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp add a few more similar-type blemishes but no major faults. Both sides of this high-quality pressing 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This extremely high-quality pressing has not been played very often at all. The sound throughout is perfectly clear, clean and totally unworn with no trace of any groove/play wear anywhere. My careful play check also found no evidence of any background crackle or interference. In fact, apart from an occasional faint tick between some tracks, there really is very little to fault on this well looked-after example.

Cover: EXCELLENT

A striking specimen which retains a bright, un-yellowed front panel bearing a hint of storage rubbing and a single small 'thumbnail'. There is a small bruise to the upper left corner but all others and both opening edges are sharp and unworn. The rear panel is clean & unmarked with just a faint bend towards the upper right and lower left corners. All flipbacks are clean & fully intact and both seams and the fully worded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean & flat with a hint of age-toning but no creasing writing or seam splits.
