Description

THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'

1963 UK 1st MONO PRESSING LP

This initial 1st UK mono pressing dates from late 1963 & has -1N/-1N matrices. This cut featured the earliest and most powerful mix which was withdrawn a matter of days after release after complaints form buyers about jumping. However, no such problems exist when played on modern turntables and you can fully enjoy the massive & incredible initial mix as it was originally approved and intended to be heard..

The label itself is the familiar yellow & black Parlophone colours with the catalogue number: PMC 1230

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

The publishing credit for song 'Money' is the incorrect; 'Jobete Mus NCB.'

The track 3 title on side 2 is misspelt as: 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'

An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 2 centre hole.

Housed in the rarer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.

The track listing on the rear also misspells track 3 on side 2 as 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'

Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N

Stamper codes: 3/GG & 5/GH

Disc weight: 166g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

A clean & bright set with just a small collection of light spindle trails & a touch of wear to each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean & retain all of thier 'as new' deep-gloss shines with just a small handful of faint marks from inner-sleeve removal but no scratches at all when viewed in strong daylight. Close inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals just a few insignificant harmless stylus hairlines and a light scuff mark to the edge of side 1 but certainly nothing major. This high-quality heavy pressing lies 100% flat both sides when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT

This well looked after copy has received a moderate amount of careful play the incredible power of this mix shines through on every track and the album is without any major deterioration to the sound quality. The only audible blemish picked up by ma careful play-check at volume was some wear t the loud peaks on 'Til There Was You' and a touch of background on 'Please Mr Postman'. However, apart from that there really is little to fault audiowise. The entire album is free from any ticks, clicks, pops or any other such distractions.

Cover

EXCELLENT -

An extremely respectable example of this fragile and easily worn. The front panel is clean & glossy with just a touch of storage rubbing to the laminate but no creasing or 'thumbnails' anywhere. There is some minor shelfwear to the lower corners but no significant wear to either the front or rear opening edge. I have marked down from a full 'Excellent' due only to pin-holes to three of the corners. The rear panel is extremely clean & white, unblemished by any marks, writing or missing paper. All flipbacks present and fully intact and both seams and the spine are smooth, undamaged & unworn.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD

General storagewear with an 8cm side seam split but no writing or other damage elsewhere.
