Description
THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
1963 UK *MONO* PRESSING LP
This excellent & early 1st mono pressing carries the initial explosive '-1N' mix, which was withdrawn from sale a few days after release.
The disc itself bears the familair yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1206
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' rims.
The side 2 label publishing credit for 'Money' is 'Jobete Mus. NCB'
The 'KT' tax/price code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with the darker front image and the 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' spelling on the tracklisting.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N
Stamper codes: 4/GL & 5/AM
Disc weight: 160g
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: EXCELLENT -
A clean & bright pair displaying some faint spindle marks & minor wear to each centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Immaculate, deep-gloss surfaces which apart from a few faint inner-sleeve removal marks, are unmarked in strong daylight. Close & careful inspection directly beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals no scratches, scuffs or indeed any other singificant or major marks or blemishes at all.
Play: EXCELLENT
Massive presence & power missing from this 1st cut which was withdrawn due to customer complaints of jumping. No such problem on this particular copy which has received only some careful play on good equipment. My careful playcheck at volume uncovered no groove/play wear - even the delicate 'Til There Was You' is free from any background crackle. I also found no clicks, pops on or any other significant or major wear on or between the music.
Cover
VERY GOOD +
A very respectable exmaple of this easily blemished cover which retains a fine unscratched, high-gloss front panel laminate showing just the inevitable light disc impression, but no 'thumbnails' or any other significant wear. There is minor bruising to corners but no damage to either opening edge. The rear panel is clean & bright but there is a small section of missing paper on the right column of the text. However, all flipbacks, both seams and the spine are in perfect, undamaged condition.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD
Clean & flat with some unavoidable light creases from storage, but no splits, tears or writing.
Take a listen to the track 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me', recorded directly from this copy on the player below:
