Description

THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
This flawless-sounding early UK MONO pressing dates from initial late-1963 on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1206

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK....' text but have 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd...' worded rims.

Th side 2 label includes 'Dominion. Belinda' credit for the song 'Money'.

An unusual 'MKT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 48-1N

This '-1N' pressing was cut extremely 'hot' and was withdrawn almost immediately after release due to complaints that it caused jumping

Stamper codes: 10/RLA & 10/RAR

Vinyl weight: 173g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with a large 'MONO' front panel indicator.

The rear track-listing bears the incorrect 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' spelling for track 3 on side 2.

Complete with its original rice-paper-lined 'Use Emitex..' inner-sleeve.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

Both are clean & bright with just a small handful of light spindle trails and a small scratch around the side 2 centre hole, but just a single trail on label 1.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Immaculate deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart from two light 5mm scuffs on the final track on side 2, are pristine & completely unmarked & 'as new' in strong daylight. Even closer examination beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp fails to reveals anything more than one or two extremely faint inner-sleeve removal marks & a sparkling rainbow shine. Both sides of the quality, heavy pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: MINT

There really is nothing to match the power and raw energy of this 1st '-1N' cutting. The album was re-cut many times shortly after release in a more toned-down fashion so 1960's record players could cope, but with today's equipment you are able to experience the true sound of Beatlemania in 1963 without any problems. This copy has clearly been played less than a handful of times and the sound quality throughout is breathtaking & flawless. Every track plays with clarity and power and free from any groove/playwear distortion or background crackle - even on the delicate 'Til There Was You'. Both run-ins and all bands play silently with not a single ticks, click or indeed any other audible distraction anywhere. You will not need another copy of this album.

Cover: EXCELLENT

A very respectable & clean example of this iconic cover which retains a impressive, unyellowed front panel which is free from any 'thumbnails' wrinkles. There is some bending to the upper left corner & a single spine bend, but all of the other corners and both opening edges are undamaged 6 unworn. The rear panel is unblemished with a touch of age-toning & no writing or missing paper.

Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is cleanly and fully worded.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean & crisp with no heavy creasing, tears, writing or seam splits.
