Description

An original 1st issue on UK Parlophone from the charting period - winter 1963. Literally a month or two after WTB crashes into the charts with an enormous pre-order. They had sold so many copies by Xmas..they were already onto the 7n/7n cut. AND A PYE CONTRACT PRESS...demand was so high they had to go to their rival Decca and PYE to keep up with demand. THis is the PYE version...NOTE....Sharp edges  that you do not find on the EMI copies-- and the stamper numbers are a bit of a jumbled mess -- this is the other indication of PYE pressing. .Lovely heavy-set pressing - enabling the near-master copy to really shine on your deck. Please note label design and formatting of text is exactly in keeping with the early copies (not very earliest). The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with original Emitex. 100% genunine and 100% complete. Well worth going for these early copies - they will sound GREAT...and you can't get much closer to the master without it getting expensive¬!
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple slight marks, one very uber superficial trail - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation per side. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. A clean player throughout - not much background really. Fantastic depth in the mix. Unfortunately many copies just will not manage that. Hardly any background. The only vague thing I picked up was a bit of light presence briefly IN ONE of the fussier moments per side (hardly anything).. A truly fantastically well preserved 1963 original. FABBO
Cover (Ex-) The grading might not seem that impressive...but on a '63 WTB that is a very appealing look....they are usually trashed. The front is immaculate. Slight ageing at the opening....but 75% of the rear is white and that's a hard find for this vintage. TiLT written top left on rear. Light surface handling...still looks very very smart...Not much edge wear and sharp openings. Text fully legible and 95% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
