THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
This EXCELLENT early UK 1st MONO pressing dates from initial November 1963 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1206
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'Parlophone Co...' rims.
The side 2 label carries the incorrect 'Jobete Mus. NCB' publishing credit for 'Money' & the 'KT' purchase tax code.
Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N
Stamper codes: 3/HD & 1/PO
Vinyl weight: 160g
Housed within an early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with the 'darker' front image & large 'mono' indicator.
As with the side 2 label, the cover caries the incorrect 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' spelling.
Complete with its original poly-lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT
Both are clean & bright with some faint spindle trails and a touch of wear around the side 2 centre hole, but no significant blemishes to either.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Extremely clean deep-gloss playing surfaces which retain their 'as new' deep-gloss shine with a light, non-feelable 2cm fingernail scuff mark being the only visible mark in strong daylight. Closer and careful examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals just a few wispy inner-sleeve removal marks and a few small hairlines but nothing I would call a scratch. Both sides of this quality, heavy copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
The sound from this quickly withdrawn, explosive sounding cutting is incredibly powerful and all subsequent cuttings never again captured the rawness of this initial pressing. Unlike most copies from this date, this copy has received minimal play on good equipment and is free from any groove/playwear distortion, clicks or pops. Even the delicate 'Til There Was You' play without any background crackle or interference. In fact, apart from some normal low-level vinyl background between tracks, there is little to fault on this amazing sounding copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A superb example of this iconic cover which considering the brittle card stock used on these early examples, is in outstanding shape. The striking front panel is clean & unworn and retains all of its high-gloss finish with just some minor age-toning to the white areas. There are two small 'thumbnails' and a touch of rubbing from storage but no heavy creases or wear. There is minor corner bruising but no tears or feathering to either opening edges.
The exposed rear panel is remarkably clean & totally unblemished and all flipbacks are in-place & unworn.
Both seams & the spine are smooth, unstressed and unworn.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +
Clean & flat with no creasing, writing, seam splits or tears.
