Description
THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
This EXCELLENT UK MONO 1st pressing dates from initial November 1963 on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1206
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'The Parlophone Co...' rims.
The side 2 label bears the incorrect 'Jobete..' publishing credit for the song 'Money'.
An early 'MKT' purchase tax code is present around the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N
Stamper codes: 7/LO & 3/HD
Vinyl weight: 175g
Housed within the scarcer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with a large 'mono' front indicator.
As with the side 2 label, track 3 on side 2 is incorrectly spelt as 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'.
Complete with its original poly-lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT -
A bright pair bearing a small collection of light spindle trails around each slightly worn centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Extremely clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces which are completely unworn and marked in strong daylight with no visible scratches or scuffs. Closer and careful examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines from the inner-sleeve. Both sides of this very heavy copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
No pressing on any format since matches this initial -1N pressing for power and excitement. The -1N cutting was so hot that is was withdrawn a week after release due to customer complaints of jumping, however there are not such problems on modern equipment. This copy has received a moderate amount of careful play on good equipment and still retains that incredible untamed sound. My play-check uncovered no significant wear on any track or a single clicks, pops or any other audible distractions or faults. In fact, apart from a hint of light background on 'Til There Was You' and between tracks, there really is little to fault overall and much more to enjoy.
Cover: EXCELLENT -
A very respectable example of this hard to find cover. The iconic front retains a clean high-gloss laminate with just a hint of storage rubbing but no 'thumbnails' anywhere. There are moderate bumps to three of the corners but are sharp, clean and free from any 'pushes' or feathering. The exposed rear panel is extremely clean overall with just some small water stains in the lower right corner. All of the delicate flipbacks but all are fully intact and both seams are smooth and unstressed.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & flat with a hint of age-toning but no writing, seam splits or tears.
