Description

This is the original UK issue with the red & pink MCA dogbone labels, the 7-224/7-225 matrices, JT tax code and the 1-A 2B-A stampers of the 1st presses.

This is the band's first album recorded at De Lane Lea Studios, London in September 1970 and released in December. The band were originally from Torquay in Devon, forming in 1969 they had supported Deep Purple early in 1970 and been recommended to Decca by Richie Blackmore. The album was produced by Deep Purple's producer Derek Lawrence and features some great guitar duos from Ted Turner & Andy Powell. The album was originally released in December on the pink & red dogbone labels, which were replaced in early 1971 by the red & brown dogbone labels by MCA. The Moore & Matthes matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with very light corner/edge wear and a little light storage rubbing on the outer cover and some light creasing on the spine of the inner cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the blue company inner is intact and in VG+ condition.

The record is in visually VG+ to EX condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of small needle marks and scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a coiple of faint spindle markings on each side.

The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud crackle or hiss and definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low background noise during the run in grooves and briefly in the quiet intro of side 2. Overall, just a really great, loud & clear listen.

The matrix nos. are; 7-224 stamper 1-A, 7-225 stamper 2B-A. This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1970 UK stereo issue of this album.
