Original UK MCA orange & brown Dogbone label stereo press LP.

Wishbone Ash 'Pilgrimage', is the second album from this Devon based prog/rock band recorded in May 1971 and released in September that year. The band had formed in 1969 and were signed to MCA in 1970 after supporting Deep Purple on tour that year. Their debut album was released in December and they toured as headliners early in 1971 supported by Stackridge. 'Pilgrimage' was a more Jazz/rock influenced album recorded at De Lane Lea Studios in a couple of weeks between gigs.

This is the first issue, with the second label variation, the orange & brown dogbone labels, the earliest 2L 1L matrices and 1-BM 1-BU stampers.
 

The Robert Stace matt gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light edge/corner wear and a little storage rubbing on the outer cover. The spine is intact, slightly faded and fully readable and the company inner is intact & in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with no scratches or nasty marks & only a couple of faint hairlines and one or two small needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side. The record still retains all its original sheen and looks great.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there some brief background noise during the run in grooves, Overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; 7-LNMG-244-2L mother stamper 1-BM, 7-LNMG-245-1L mother stamper 1-BU. This is one of the early pressings of the original 1971 1st UK stereo pressing of this album.
