DETAILS:

1951 UK Mono 2LP set recorded in the Festspielhaus, Bayreuth, on the re-inauguration of the Bayreuth Festival.

GRADING:

Cover - Very Good

A few seam and spine creases.

A little spine rubbing/wear.

Emitex inner sleeves with some brown ageing.

Hints of ringwear on both covers.

Some storage dirt/staining picked up on the sleeves front and back.

The top rear flipback on ALP 1286 has a little laminate removed on the top right hand side. It also has a small piece of laminate removed on the front cover bottom right hand corner.

There is a small area of brown staining in the middle of the rear sleeve of ALP 1286.

The rear sleeve of ALP 1287 has 4 numbers written in faded red ink at the top middle of the rear sleeve.

Record - Very Good

Mono copy, no stereo copy exists.

1st press red label with gold letter and Nipper the dog. Generally bright and clean with just a little fading.

Matrix numbers are 2XRA 16-2N 2XRA 17-2N for ALP 1286 and 2XRA 18-2N 2XRA 19-3N for ALP 1287. 

Vinyl is still bright and glossy with some hairlines visible under close inspection.

Generally plays nicely with some light background noise (more noticeable in the more quiet passages) and the occasional tick on each side. The ticks are noticeable but not overwhelming.

Summary

A nice copy of a very rare record. Obviously with faults on the cover and the vinyl but an acceptable copy to play or just keep.

Our grading is based on the system used by Record Collector magazine as described below (We don't sell records with a grading of less than very good).

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Record will be sent in a cardboard pizza box record mailer with additional cardboard stiffeners/ bubble wrap for extra protection. The record is also placed in a protective polythene sleeve. The record/inner will be removed from the main sleeve to guard against any seam/spine damage during postage.
