ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This outstanding LP from Polskie Nagrania · Muza (SX 1726, Polish pressing, yellow label, mono) entitled “Masterly Performances · Prize-Winners of the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition” preserves rare “live” performances, spanning the years 1935 to 1952, of five laureates, all of whom went on to build reputations of great renown, and at least 3 of them now among the pantheon of history’s great violinists. The added attraction of this album is that these great artists can be heard in complete works, however short, and not in some truncated broadcast fragment. Moreover, these were professionally made recordings, from the archives of Polish Radio and TV.
Included are the following violinists / performances:
Ginette Neveu, 1st Prize Winner, 1935 Wieniawski Competition
Claude Debussy: Sonata for Violin and Piano
> with Jean Neveu, piano

Camille Saint-Saëns (arr. Eugène Ysaÿe): Etude in Waltz Form Op. 52 No. 6
> with Vladimir Yampolsky, piano

CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT++. There is very slight bumping at corners, as well as some minor discoloration/ringwear to the rear panel, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects and the album remains solid, bright, and quite striking in appearance – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is similary EXCELLENT++. Although the surfaces are not absolutely CD silent, in general the playback is truly superb. Indeed, it appears to be an uplayed copy. However, if you must have a flawless copy, then you are advised to look elsewhere – overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
