Description

Wendy Saddington "Looking Through A Window" LP vinyl.  Condition is Very good. Sent with Australia Post Standard.

PLUS a handwritten page from a diary kept by Wendy herself. Wendy was known for her delicate creative handwriting.Even her songlists were part of her creative expression. This page is written with a silver sharpie and was a personal gift from Wendy herself. I am not willing to separate the items so bid only if you want both the record and the page.

This LP is the 2nd realease of the vinyl with 3 tracks extra to the original. It is regarded as being one of the (if not THE) best Oz blues/rock/psych alums recorded live at the Wallacia Pop Festival. Jeff St John usually fronted the band with Wendy but due to illness he wasnt present and Wendy did all the vocals. It was a magic performance recorded in a cow paddock complete w the hum of the generator and some virtuosic playing by the magnificent Copperwine. Wendy sings extraordinarily well, a soulful screamer at times but a complete original. She was at her peak around this time and very few female singers anywhere could match her. On the night she sang like one possessed...and legend has it that the mushrooms had something to do with that!.. This album comes with page from her diary which was a gift from the lady herself. This page was exhibited in an exhibition at Canberra Museum & Gallery dedicated to Wendy Saddington: "Underground Icon" 2015. I am selling some of my record collection and because I dont have a turntable these days I can only visually inspect the records and hence I grade them fairly low to avoid your disappointment. No returns so please only bid if genuine. As far as I can see the vinyl is shiny and clean with a few shallow surface marks. The cover is very good with minor ring wear.. There is a sticker on the label...it has been loved and rarely played in its 50-odd year life.

Wendy June Saddington also known as Gandharvika Dasi (26 September 1949 – 21 June 2013) was an Australian blues, soul and jazz singer, and was in the bands  Chain, Copperwine and the Wendy Saddington Band. She was highly regarded in the 70s and 80s and some say that at her peak she was absolutely peerless. Ask anyone who witnessed her in performance and you will invariably be told of 'goosebumps' and hairs standing on end. Saddington had Top 30 chart success with her 1972 solo single "Looking Through a Window", which was written and produced by Billy Thorpe and Warren Morgan of the Aztecs.( this track included on this LP) After adopting Krishna Consciousness in the 1970s she took the name Gandharvika Dasi. Wendy sang right up to her death in 2013. Here is your chance to nab a piece of an under-appreciated blues legend.
