Description

Absurdly rare original UK test pressing of Warne Marsh's masterwork "Jazz Of Two Cities". Side A only on this copy, as the test pressing was rejected. Unclear whether both sides were pressed one sided or a double sided record was eventually pressed. The flip side contains just a reference sine tone. "REJECTED" stamp on the back on the jacket. Some age spotting on the back cover. Front looks very strong with some laminate peeling/lifting, not too bad. Weaker VG+ but generally very strong for a UK jacket of that era as they were super flimsy. Some fraying starting on the spine but no full split. The record has some light sleeve marks, but nothing feelable. Could use an ultrasonic clean to get rid of some deep groove dirt and static. Plays super strong with occasional noise that seems to be from deep groove dust and not the surface blemishes. The run in deadwax is noisy, but once the music kicks in, it's totally smooth sailing. Should play even better upon a real deep clean. Original inner sleeve included with a stamped serial number. Strange that this pressing got rejected, as the mastering sounds absolutely phenomenal.

A very special item for a deep jazz vinyl collector.
