War Child Heroes-15 Disc 7 Inch Vinyl Box Set

February 2009 45 RPM seven inch vinyl box set release by the War Child organization. Set is limited to 5000 copies worldwide. Concept behind this set is rather unique. A variety of famous Rock musicians (Dylan, Springsteen, U2, The Kinks, etc) were asked to name their favorite composition, and to recommend an artist or band to record a updated version. Results were quite surprising, not so much in the choice of songs as in the bands selected to re-record them, which included some offbeat choices to say the least (The Kooks, Hot Chip, Duffy, Hold Steady, etc.). The project has been receiving rave reviews for it's great premise, and the high quality of the cover versions. This vinyl box set edition consists of 15 seven inch 45 RPM discs, housed in a handsome presentation box. The A side of each single is the "cover" version, with the B side being the classic version by the original artist. The 15th single is a one-sided disc with a version of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". (The disc is listed as a "bonus"-perhaps there was a contractual problem getting Stevie's version?)
