These Albums of American Composers were produced by the War Department in conjunction with the V-Disc Program during World War II to provide records for U.S. military personnel. Many of these recordings were from live performances.
The reason these are so rare is that when the V-Disc program ended in 1949, audio masters and stampers were destroyed and leftover V-Discs at bases and on ships were discarded. On some occasions, the FBI and the Provost Marshal's Office confiscated and destroyed V-Discs that servicemen had smuggled home.
This collection has 14 of the 15 albums, with the 7th album unfortunately and accidentally swapped for another V-Disc record of Big Band & Swing music.
The records are in Good Plus to Very Good condition with a fair amount of scratches, with some affecting playback. However, these records should be considered "Collector's Condition" and keep in mind, they were in a war.
