This VERY RARE, original, 1961 record looks like a 45 rpm, but sounds normal at 33 1/3 rpm speed.

At 45 RPM, it plays way too fast (of course).

The "A" side (Mother-In-Law) was accidentally mis-mastered at 33 1/3 rpm on the first pressing.

The number in the trail-off area of the vinyl is number is 45-SO-738. I tried to get some photos of this number, but it is etched in lightly and was not able to photograph it.

When the mistake was realized, a re-mastered record at 45 rpm was manufactured and the number in the trail-off area of the vinyl was changed to SO-738-2.

The "B" side ("Wanted, $10,000 Reward") was mastered correctly at 45 rpm on the first pressing.

This is definitely a very rare and hard to find item and most people don't even realize this oddity exists. I've heard stories where when some people bought these in 1961 and realized it played too fast on 45 rpm speed, they just threw them away and went out and bought another copy!

This record plays very well with no skips and sounds very good.

The label is pristine on both sides.

Comes in a plain white non-original sleeve.

Do an Internet search for Soulful Kinda Music Benny Spellman, and on that page you'll see this record listed including the details of the wrong speed; Spellman was the bass singer on "Mother in Law".
