Description

Up for sale is a really scarce LP (12 inch, 33 RPM, vinyl record) featuring the best local rock bands in New Orleans.  They were selected in 1981 as part of the "Big Music America Contest" by radio station WRNO, which at that time was known as "The Rock of New Orleans".
Album Title:  "The Rock Album from WRNO FM-100" Artists:  Multiple (see listing below) Record Label:  Starstream Record Company (Houston, Texas) Album Number: BMC-80124 Produced by Michael Costello, Program Director, WRNO Radio, New Orleans, La. Date:  1981
This album was the first in a series of three albums issued through WRNO.  This one was issued in 1981.  Volume II appeared in 1983 and  Volume III was released in 1985.
Side I

  1. We Are The Rock (Reno's Rangers)
  2. Without A Second Thought (Roulette)
  3. I Gotta Know (24K)
  4. Long Long Time (Reunion)
  5. The Door (Davis)
  6. Sometimes in Life (Full Contact)
Side II
  1. Can't Break The Spell (Bittersweet)
  2. Hustling in Hollywood (Persia, formerly known as Royal Orleans)
  3. She's Got A Secret (Diamond)
  4. Fat Chance (The Raffeys)
  5. I'm In Love (With The Girl) (Sexdog)
  6. "The Rock ... Then And Now"  (NOTE:  This is not a song but a montage of clips of various disc jockeys, and snips of popular songs, since the beginning of the radio station in 1967.)
Most of these bands never released any records on their own.  [An exception would be "Persia" (Royal Orleans).]  These tracks are next to impossible to find except on these WRNO issued albums.  The Crescent City may be better known for its jazz, but this LP shows that there were smokin' hot rock bands there in the late 70s and early 80s.  In this album, my favorite is Bittersweet, which features a fantastic female vocalist.  I found one online source that compared the performance to another band with female vocalists, Tantrum.
Please see above for full description of condition and for photos.  Sold as is.
NOTE:  I also have Volume III in the WRNO series for sale with the auction ending the same time as this one.  If you are the winning bidder on both albums, I will be happy to combine shipping based on the combined shipping weight.  I will invoice you with the details.
